On December 27th I celebrated my 51st birthday. The older we get the less it seems our lives are celebrated. Between technology and social media things become less personable. Instead of family and friends getting together to celebrate life they choose to send a text to our phones or a message through Facebook or other platforms. Phone calls have become a thing of the past, birthdays and Holidays become stagnate.
Social media is designed to seclude us from the rest of the world. We are trapped in a cell and don't even realize it. Just because those family and friends are "friends" with us on Facebook doesn't mean they are in our lives. But family not being in my life is not anything new.
While social media is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends that are long distance, it can take it's toll on relationships that we have locally and within driving distance. I have always been the "black-sheep" of the family and too many times I allowed that to affect me emotionally and mentally. I has been years, but I have accepted things for the way that they are and I stopped fighting it. But not without falling back into old habits of letting people back in only to repeat the same ole same ole, over and over again.
For my birthday this 51st year I gave myself the gift of healing, peace of mind and happiness by setting boundaries and ground rules for the last time.
The moral of this short but true story is celebrate your life even if you are the only one that shows up! Know deep in your heart, that no matter what, you are worthy, you are deserving and your life matters. Know that you are not alone because there are people who are just like you accepting the same things that I have.
While working on myself, for years, I had no support system. No one who could really listen and understand what I was going through. I decided to become a Certified Happiness Life Coach so that I could be that support system for YOU. Message me today and take my hand because you are not alone on your journey.
